No-exam life insurance

Which applicants are eligible for accelerated underwriting, what happens when they are approved that way, and what happens if the carrier needs an exam instead.

A lot of carriers offer fast-track underwriting these days: for applicants who fit certain age and coverage-amount windows, the carrier makes a choice using just the application information, medical records on file, driving history, and related information, without ordering an exam. Decisions can come through within a day. Every quote here will tell you whether that carrier will require an exam, might ask for one, or can say yes without one.

What it changes

No exam does not mean no underwriting check. Your answers will be verified, and any policy based on misleading answers can be challenged within the first two years. If the insurer finds something in their database that needs clarification, they may still ask for testing; you will have the choice at that moment to go ahead.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people younger than about sixty, asking for an amount within the carrier's accelerated limit, without serious health issues in their record and no tobacco use for at least a year qualify. Some carriers will use recent lab work from a doctor's visit instead of ordering an exam.

If a test is needed, it normally takes between twenty and thirty minutes with a medical technician who comes to your place of work or residence in the Chino Hills area, and it costs you nothing. For applicants in good health, exam results often actually improve the rate category, so it is not necessarily bad news.
